ENGLISH • Marco Bussagli, art historian and professor of artistic anatomy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, is a great admirer and friend of Tracce Cahiers d'Art which he wanted, amiably, to define "a niche magazine, but of prestige". With us he has repeatedly collaborated generously offering the active and precious contribution of his philological-hermeneutical knowledge, with which he has always used to propose accurate and refined Art Criticism interventions. Among his most recent books, we remember "Bosch" by Giunti Editore 2016.

For the publisher Edizioni d'arte Félix Fénéon - Italy 2014, we like here to bring to the attention of all our friends the art edition "The Etruscans and the Mediterranean. GLI AMICI DI TRACCE CAHIERS D'ART – Emilio Isgrò "Godete e moltiplicatevi" • FRIENDS OF TRACCE CAHIERS D'ART – Emilio Isgrò "Enjoy and multiply". Italian / English

Emilio Isgrò durante la 54a Biennale di Venezia
scrisse nel giugno 2011 questo testo che pubblicammo
su TRACCE CAHIERS D'ART Rivista d'Arte n.15

Godete, artisti. Godete, angeli. Godete e moltiplicatevi.

ENJOY AND MULTIPLY
written by Emilio Isgrò*

The world of art is more and more like the world of football market, with the old Soviet Nomenklatura enlarged to a planetary Nomenklatura which (not by chance) sees Breznev's mutant heirs in the first row, that is, those Russian riches willingly accompanying today to new Arab or Chinese adepts, as well as the usual Americans.

It is this Nomenklatura of oil, culturally a bit naïve, to dictate the rules of taste and play, buying the glittering goods of the Global Parart with the same ideological abnegation with which it once bought the products of Socialist Realism.

Once the golden statue of Stalin, today the diamond-studded skull; and this regardless of the aesthetic value of the work itself, which sometimes, even if rarely, may even be there, despite the artists being forced to a wearisome muscle-building to prove to their inexperienced, ill-advised buyers that they have it longer than others.

By comparison, the old Texas oilmen, who collected Oldenburg or Warhol to give themselves an acceptable cultural status, gave a certain tenderness, almost as if they were victims of that Puritan syndrome that from time to time emerges from the bottom of America.

On the other hand, it is better not to talk about Europe. As always it does the figure of the old troubled aunt, only able to say: "I told you so". But in the end, poor, she too is queued, clearly not suitable for surviving in such calamitous times.

I believe that a generic and widespread notion of "artisticism" has replaced "art" as a strong and fundamental idea of human identities. Just make the face of artists to impress the careless universe, while true artists, you know, prefer to dress as professors or accountants, and sometimes even ice-cream men. Never by artists, never by consecrated clerics.

The fact is that they work for the public (over all a public with obvious cultural limitations) and never for themselves. But the artist who works only for his recipients, and never for himself, is like the lover who crumples and sweats to satisfy the partner in the game of love, with the result that in the end he does not enjoy and does not enjoy her.

The pleasure of art and writing can not only be enjoyed by the user, but also, if not above all, by the artist who practices it in the first person. Otherwise it will be an uninterrupted, hopeless coitus: if I do not enjoy, you do not enjoy either.

Even the goldfinches do not sing for the exclusive pleasure of men. And yet it is not an ineluctable fate: just a shoulder, or rather a shoulder... Enjoy, artists. Enjoy, angels. Enjoy and multiply.

GLI AMICI DI TRACCE CAHIERS D'ART – Insieme per l'Arte, il piacere del bello • FRIENDS OF TRACCE CAHIERS D'ART – Togheter for Art, the pleasure of Beauty. Italian / English

TOGETHER FOR ART – the pleasure of beauty
Friends of Tracce Cahiers d'Art

Friends of Tracce Cahiers d'Art are friends of art. They share with our magazine the same commitment to support and protect the values of true art, against the nihilistic corrosion carried out by the contemporary art market, where "art is an investment of capital, culture an alibi" (Ennio Flaiano) and within whose horizon the eclipse of every ethics and aesthetics of beauty has historically been consummated. The friends of Tracce Cahiers d'Art together with our magazine want to reaffirm, instead, the rights of artistic beauty and natural beauty, so that they can fully return to the center of everyone's existence, starting from the enjoyment in contemplation of a work of art. art or nature; on the contrary, starting from the contemplative gaze that gives back to the time its perfume, which is slow and permanent, which tastes of memory and memory, which so resembles the fragrant substance of art.

A work of art or a beautiful work of nature is an object of pleasure. The aesthetic experience is that of a pleasure that has as its cause the contemplation of an object. The more we enter contemplation the more we enter into the understanding of the object, into an empathetic interpenetration where the ego of our subjectivity disappears, so that the aesthetic experience becomes, in its own right, also an ethical experience. The pleasure that gives us the action of contemplating the work of art or of nature leads to a degree of knowledge that the knowledge of reason can never reach. In no other case is the fact that thought does not become thought unless it is on condition of not separating it, in its abstract conceptual sphere, from the sensible evidence of beauty.

The pleasure produced by the contemplation of art or nature is not valid only for me, but for all those who, knowing how to prepare themselves in the right way, become equally capable of enjoying them. For this reason it can be one of the foundations of friendship, one of the foundations of that community of friends analogous to this together, which is forming around the planning of our art magazine, with the friends of Tracce Cahiers d'Art.
